Censer - θυμιατό
A censer is an incense burner used for spiritual and religious ceremonies and blessings, creating a holy and peaceful atmosphere for prayer. Orthodox Christians can burn incense (λιβάνι) in their homes for the following reasons:
• Before the beginning of prayer
• Censing icons and the iconostasis
• Family and friends
• Blessing of the home and garden
• Blessing of objects
• On Feast Days
Incense are fragrant gums and spices which are burnt on charcoals (καρβουνάκια) in a censer. The burning of incense represents a sacrifice or offering to God. The most common scents used are frankincense, myrrh and rose.
Ceramic censer can also be used as a Holy Water Cup.
Specifications: Ceramic censer measuring 8cm H x 10.5cm W x 8.5cm D with blue cross sign. Wash with warm soapy water, dry with soft towel or allow to air dry.
