Fanouropita - Φανουρόπιτα
In the Orthodox Church, Saint Fanourios the Holy Martyr and Miracle Worker is commemorated on the 27th August, the day in which his icon was found. We pray to Saint Fanourios to find "Lost things" and he is honoured with a symbolic cake called the "Fanouropita" (φανουρόπιτα). It is baked on the eve of the Feast Day of Saint Fanourios, 26th August, in the memory of the Saint's mother, in order for her soul to be saved and that she may rest in peace.
