Learn with Stelakis: National Flag of Cyprus
The National Flag of Cyprus features the shape of the island, with two olive branches against the white background.
The olive branches and white background symbolises peace between the island's two communities. The islands shape which is a copper-orange colour, symbolises the large amount of copper ore found on the island.
It came into use on the 16th August, 1960.
